May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

At Lister Hill we have a thriving Sunday School comprising of 7 classes.  The children join us in worship between 10:30 and 11am before they join their classes, returning for refreshments at 12:15pm.  We use the "Light" material from Scripture Union as the basis for our teaching.

OUR VISION FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL

For the children:

  • For each child to grow into a deeper relationship with God the Father, develop a personal passion for Jesus and know the power of the Holy Spirit working in his/her life.
  • For every child within Sunday School to encounter Jesus in every lesson and grow spiritually from a "little acorn" into a strong "oak tree".
  • For all children to be discipled from the "same loaf" as the adults, just broken down into smaller pieces to make it easier for them to "digest".
  • For the children to mentor and be positive witnesses for each other.
  • For each child to be and feel safe and secure within his/her group(s).
  • For each child to have leaders that they can talk with and trust.

For the families:

  • For every new parent to be made welcome by Sunday School staff and given clear information.

For the leaders & assistants:

  • For each leader/assistant to feel positive and confident in his/her role.
  • For each leader/assistant to feel supported and encouraged
  • For each leader to be clear on all systems/structures

We will seek to meet this vision as a Sunday School team through:

  • Plenty of prayer!
  • Well prepared and well taught sessions appropriately pitched
  • Encouraging children to mentor each other
  • Making ourselves available for children to talk to
  • Use of positive systems and structures
  • Good communication between leaders
  • Effective training for leaders and assistants
