Hope08 Prayer Labyrinth
Another big THANK YOU to Sue and Jules from Scripture Union for this fantastic event.
We had over 57 people from Horsforth Churches joining together to pray in the X-Factor themed labyrinth. There was a particular focus on our Youth Alpha and the Hope08 activities.
Everyone really enjoyed the event and the feedback has been very positive. |

Hope08 Litter Pick
Seven intrepid members of Lister Hill joined almost 100 other people form Horsforth churches to contribute towards the Hope08 goal of 1,000,000 hours of service to the community. During a rain soaking 2 hours we filled 12 bags with litter from our local area, receiving some excellent compliments from passers by.

Youth Service
Congratulations to our young people who led and served (yes they even washed up aftwards) at the evening service on Sunday 22nd June.
Tim's sermon was excellent and Jordan has a gifting for leading worship.

Church Family Walk
On the afternoon of 7th June 2008 our intrepid explorers embarked on a 'pushchair friendly' (oh yeh!) walked to Golden Acre Park.
Although muddy in places and despite the odd flying tree (thanks to Tim & Pete) everyone had a great time and returned 'refreshed'. We didn't even sink many ducks?

Church Family Walk
On the afternoon of 5th April 2008 over 30 hardy souls set out on a 2 ½ mile walk around Roundhay Park. The weather forecast had not been good ‘cold with a scattering of heavy showers’ & as we drove to the park hail beat down on the car. However the weather was kind & the Lord really blessed the afternoon. Yes a cold wind did blow down Waterloo lake but there was warm friendship as young & old walked & chatted.
Hopefully we will be having another walk at Swinsty Reservoir during May – a little longer with time for a picnic lunch (plus sunshine we pray) – look out for details in the notices |

Crafting for Christmas
Our regular Craft club is every Wednesday 1:30-3:00pm
|
||||
| Oct 2007 | Fear Not Praise Party | Once again our church was full of families for our whole Church party. | |||
|
|
The aim was to give our young folk something exciting to do and provide our families and friends with somewhere to go to avoid the trick-and-treaters.
The young people decorated T-Shirts, created a "Fear Not" banner, presented an excellent "Fear Not" drama and demonstrated their worship talents through flag waving and signing. There was also multimedia shows and lots of worship. For the older folk who wanted to avoid the "trick or treat" brigade there was a coffee lounge and discussion in the parlour.

Youth Weekend Away |
Another fantastic weekend away with 40+ children and 16 adults enjoying time learning about God, building relationships and exploring Whitescar caves.
| Oct 2006 | Bright Party |
We joined with St.Paul's church in Ireland Wood for a fantastic alternative to Halloween. There were over 50 children aged from 4 to 14 enjoying games, food and stories.
Many thanks to the hard work put in by the leadership team at St.Pauls.
| Oct 2006 | Youth Weekend Away |
30 children and 14 adults had a wonderful weekend of worship, team building, fellowship and teaching at Ingleton, Lancashire.
| Aug 2006 | Craft Club Outing | Trip to Oswaldtwistle Mills | |||
|
Sixteen of us enjoyed the trip to Oswaldtwistle Mills in Accrington on the 9th August and there were lots of interesting shops to browse in, but Dawn Bibby's Topaz Crafts was the highlight for us.
We were able to get to know one another better on the journey and over a relaxing meal together.
The new session started on Wednesday, 6th September with Pat Moore (The Horsforth card-making expert!) showing us how to make "K cards". This proved quite a challenge, but well worth the effort.
Anna Haley has returned to help us complete our trapursto cushions (Italian quilting) and this week and next we are making padded and beaded coat-hangers which would make nice gifts. Two members have joined us this term - its always good to meet new folk.

Sunday School Gift Service The Sunday School service before Christmas included the opportunity to make a donation towards buying goats, trees and desks and other items for children in developing countries, via World Vision. (www.greatgifts.org) That appeal raised £600 - thank you all very much indeed! As a result, the following have been ordered: 8 blankets - This soft comforting blanket could literally save lives providing vital warmth for children and adults living with HIV/AIDS in Africa. This is a wonderful way of sharing what we have with others who are less well off. Give thanks to God for His fantastic generosity to each of us.

Praise Party/Halloween Alternative
|
A fruitful fun packed evening.
The fact that nearly 50 children were offered a positive alternative on Halloween night was tremendous. As the world increasingly uses the night to celebrate darkness, this event helped the children to celebrate the God of truth and light.
A big thankyou to all involved in the planning and running of the evening.

Duggie Dug Dug
|
More than 150 people, from many local churches as well as Lister Hill enjoyed an evening of fun and praise. We have had lots of very positive responses from people that came and the question is always "When can we do it again"
