The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Why not join our church to see this great film on Friday 18th July at 7pm at Leeds-Bradford Odeon.  Please print off and return the invite at the bottom of this page

One year after the incredible events of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway realm, only to discover that more than 1,300 years have passed in Narnian time.

During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children meet Prince Caspian: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him, in order to place his own newborn son on the throne.

With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz’s tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land.

Evan Almighty

(Comments by Clifford Parker : 6-Feb-2008)

I was surprised at just how thought provoking this film was.  I saw several clips during our Youth Weekend Away last year and just had to get the DVD for Christmas.  One scene in particular stands out for me.  It is the one where God appears as a restaurant worker to Evan’s wife just after she has left Evan due to his unusual behaviour. God reminds her of a prayer she had prayed previously:

"When you pray for patience, does God just give you patience? Or does He give you opportunity to be patient? When you pray for courage, does He give you courage or opportunity to be courageous? And, when you pray for your family to become closer, does God just zap you with warm fuzzy feelings or does He give you opportunity to become close?"

Wow, if only we could actually apprehend and comprehend the mountain of truth in those words it would be life changing for us. Perhaps God can even use Hollywood to communicate His truth to a culture hungry for His touch.  It certainly helps me understand some of the answers I’ve had to prayer :-)
